Condensed text:) The US presidential election is on Nov. 8, and the outcome can hardly be predicted even today. Both candidates, Republican Donald Trump and Democrat Hillary Clinton, relying on different segments of the electorate, are approaching election day with almost equal chances of winning. Of course, recent scandals and revelations have seriously battered the image of the charismatic billionaire [Donald Trump], who is still promising to "Make America Great Again."

One thing is certain: The phenomenon of Trump, who has stirred much debate and attracted worldwide attention, has become the central focus of the political battle, infusing the entire election campaign with a distinctive and memorable flavor. This phenomenon has become the most-discussed topic among experts and politicians.

How is it that Donald Trump - a tactless, overconfident demagogue and populist outsider who does not fit into the political logic of contemporary America - has appealed to so many? How is it that all of a sudden he quickly started scoring points among white American workers who are fed up with the usual cast of characters, the duplicity of the participants in the great political spectacle, and the empty and often impossible promises they make?

Answers to those questions are already quite evident. Trump has become the hope for many Americans who have lost faith in the elite’s ability to rule the country and solve its problems. However, comprehensive answers are possible only after the final curtain falls on this political show, [and] after there has been deeper and fuller reflection on all that has happened in the US over the past year. ...
